(DotNetNuke) DNN vs Drupal

Drupal is a free open-source CMS based on PHP. It’s feature-packed, thanks to a huge community of users and developers that contribute to add-ons. Drupal is powerful enough for nearly any web application.

If you need it, Drupal can probably do it – just how easily is the question. The open-source architecture is code-intensive and inherently patch-work, making it intimidating for beginners unlike DNN. There is an automated installer of Drupal that makes the setup a little easier if you’re having trouble getting the platform to install properly. Administering a website in Drupal can more of a hassle compared to DNN or other CMS platforms, since it’s more intensive.

When people compare DNN and Drupal, they often find DNN works more efficiently in Internet Explorer versus Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.  DNN has the ability to work in just about every browser with no problems. Drupal and DNN are similar in that they are both open sourced and free. Drupal is written in PHP and distributed by GNU. According to w3techs.com, “Drupal is only used by 2.0% percent of the websites in the world.” Drupal is commonly used for a lot of personal blogs and government websites. A majority of Drupal users use Drupal core which has all the basic features of a CMS system.
