Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a privately held U.S. regional supermarket chain with 87* stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts. Wegmans is owned by the Wegmans family, and in 2014, had annual sales $7.4 billion. In August 2015, J.D. Power and Associates ranked Wegmans Pharmacy number one in the U.S. for customer satisfaction among supermarket pharmacies.
Wegmans hired equaTEK to develop a prescription management system that tracked and retained prescription history - from creation, to fill, to submittal to the insurance companies, to payment receipt, to reconciliation.
Originally, Wegmans was working with a pharmacy management system that only kept the “last” state of the prescription with little detail. equaTEK developed software to capture the daily state of the prescription, detect changes, and store the historical state of the prescription.
Many additional applications were then built-off of this transaction data to add enhanced services to the pharmacy department; signature capture, central fill processing, drug catalog updates, label reprints, and improved will-call processing and management are examples of the applications built for the pharmacy department.
Over time, as software systems changed, equaTEK helped migrate this software to interface with McKesson’s EnterpriseRx system.
